Eight Indian Startups Building Boldly with AI

Today at Google I/O Connect India 2025, we celebrated the incredible momentum of AI adoption and leadership by India’s startups and developers. It’s been deeply encouraging to see that many have chosen our Gemini, Gemma and GenMedia models to power their AI journeys.
The Indian startup and developer ecosystem has used capabilities available through Google AI Studio, Cloud and Vertex AI for India’s scale and diversity, building faster, smarter, and efficiently. And at I/O Connect, eight startups showcased applications built with Google’s powerful AI models, facilitating real-world impact across sectors - from education and governance to commerce and media.
Sarvam is working to help build a sovereign AI ecosystem for India that caters to the country’s wide-ranging culture and diversity. Sarvam has been selected for the INDIAai Mission to contribute to India’s Sovereign AI. Sarvam has used Gemma 3 to build its recently-released translation model, Sarvam-Translate, an open-source model delivering accurate, context-rich translations for long-form across all 22 officially-recognized Indian languages. Gemma 3's efficiency and industry-leading native multilingual understanding enabled Sarvam to lower the costs of training and inferencing for Indian languages, supporting Sarvam-Translate in providing high-quality, culturally-nuanced translations.
As a hosted translation API, the model has been serving over 100,000 weekly translation requests. This API is also a key component of Samvaad, the organization’s conversational AI agent platform, which has handled over 10 million conversation turns across Indian languages.

CoRover supports businesses in building customizable multilingual customer chatbots that are powered by Gemini. Gemini supports chatbots’ communication in over 100 languages with near 99 percent accuracy. CoRover’s solutions, including BharatGPT that supports organizations with flexible AI models, have supported over 1 billion users, over 25,000 enterprises and developers, and over 20 billion interactions. The deployment of Gemini as part of the Google Cloud AI Stack has supported the organization in improving operational efficiency by up to 70 percent, increasing its speed in implementing solutions by 10x, while also maintaining and growing customer satisfaction.

Glance is an AI-native platform that merges deep commerce intelligence with hyper-real visual shopping. Powered by Gemini and Imagen via Vertex AI, Glance delivers personalized experiences that turn everyday surfaces into dynamic hubs for discovery and commerce. On mobile, users can upload a selfie to generate photo-realistic, fashion-forward looks styled on themselves; each look is tailored to personal taste and instantly shoppable. On connected TVs, Glance transforms ambient screens into inspiration-led discovery surfaces by blending entertainment, personalization, and real-time interactivity; it brings aspirational, AI-powered content into the living room, turning passive viewing into an active, commerce-enabled experience.

Entri has deeply integrated Gemini into its AI Teacher Assistant and Interview Coach, transforming over 15 million Indian-language learners’ exam and job preparation with real-time support in their native tongues. With an adoption rate of over 53% for the Teacher Assistant — where 60% of users rely on AI-generated summaries over full videos — and approximately 91% adopt and over 75% repeatedly use the Interview Coach, these Gemini-supported features are helping reshape vernacular edtech, making personalized education accessible and effective at scale.

Invideo is changing the way videos are created. Now anyone can turn any idea into a full-length videos using just text prompts. Invideo leverages several Gemini models such as Imagen 4 and Veo 3, to make videos from ads and explainers, to stories and films. Using the Google AI stack enables Invideo to take care of all the technical complexities, giving users the freedom to focus on their creative vision. Invideo allows everyone - from marketers, to business leaders, to storytellers - to bring bold ideas to life, effortlessly and with confidence.

Nykaa integrated visual product discovery on its fashion site using Gemini via Chrome’s multimodal API. Users can snap a photo of a desired item, and Gemini generates a description to find matching products from Nykaa’s catalog. It also suggests complementary items, acting as a personal stylist. All processing happens on-device, ensuring speed and privacy. The result is a seamless, engaging, and intuitive shopping experience.

Dashverse has leveraged Veo 3, Lyria 2 on Vertex AI and Gemini, to build Dashtoon Studio and Frameo, its AI-native platforms for creating comics and cinematic videos from simple prompts. These two platforms are at the core of Dashverse’s consumer apps, Dashtoon and Dashreels, that now reach over 2 million users.
Dashverse has also produced an AI-generated 90-minute Indian mythology epic drama using Veo 3, and is leveraging Google’s Lyria 2 on Vertex AI to support users in crafting dynamic and emotionally responsive soundtracks that seamlessly adapt to the narrative and pacing of their content for platforms like Dashreels.

Toonsutra is reimagining digital storytelling, creating Indian-language webcomics using Lyria 2 and Gemini 2.5 Pro in Vertex AI for dynamic background music and realistic character speech. The images in the comics are also brought to life using Google’s latest image to video feature in Veo 3. This integration aims to enrich the multimodal webcomic experience, enhancing the narrative and creating more immersive and interactive reading journeys. By blending cutting-edge AI with culturally-rooted narratives, Toonsutra is pioneering a new frontier in vernacular entertainment.
