Localizing our cutting-edge AI tools for Indian innovation

We are actively localizing our cutting-edge AI capabilities and tailoring our APIs to be both more helpful and more affordable, to better serve the unique requirements of India's developer ecosystem. This isn't just about bringing our global innovations; it's about specifically empowering Indian developers with tools that address local needs and scale.
In a significant step to enable Indian developers with powerful, localized AI capabilities, we are very excited to share that Gemini 2.5 Flash processing will now be available in India. This high-performance model can be accessed via Single Zone Provisioned Throughput within Google Cloud regions in India, ensuring top-tier stability and speed. This will especially help developers build for regulated industries like healthcare, banking and finance, and for the public sector, where data residency and low-latency processing are critical.

To assist more accurate, fresh, and geospatially-aware responses from LLMs in Vertex AI, we are expanding grounding with Google Maps in India. Developers building for logistics, travel-related and location-aware services will be able to access content from Google Maps that is richer and more precise, including about local landmarks, based on information about more than 250 million places worldwide.
We've also worked to help developers build rich, AI-powered apps faster for their end-users by expanding AI-powered summaries in the Places API to India. Leveraging the best of Geo data with plug-and-play, Gemini-powered summaries, Indian developers can now effortlessly integrate concise, intelligent overviews of millions of real-world places directly into their applications. This empowers Indian developers to create highly informative and engaging location-based services that save users time and resonate with local needs.
We're also making the Google Maps Places UI Kit more accessible than ever with new India-specific pricing. Indian developers can now build easy-to-use widgets and components with the best of Google Maps Places for a fraction of the cost, significantly reducing barriers to entry while enabling more developers to create engaging, location-based experiences.

Finally, our Advanced AI Weather forecasting models will now power the new Google Maps Weather API, for developers to build apps that provide more accurate weather predictions with more granular data. This capability will be especially helpful for developers building for logistics and delivery-focused services, including mobile commerce, where precise weather information can dramatically improve efficiency and customer experience.
With these tailored, accessible, and powerful tools, we’re continuing to equip Indian developers with the tools to craft locally innovative solutions that serve the nation's diverse needs.
