A more powerful Android assistant with Gemini
Today at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, we announced new features that make Gemini an even more helpful, personalized and accessible assistant on Android devices. Here’s what’s new for Gemini.
Use images, videos and files with Gemini Live
Gemini Live1 allows you to have natural, free-flowing conversations with Gemini. It is especially helpful when you want some AI-powered help to brainstorm new ideas, organize your thoughts, or simplify complex topics.
Because Gemini Live is built to work with Android, it’s easy to transition from what you’re doing on your phone to starting a conversation about it. And starting today, Gemini Live is becoming more versatile, allowing you to add images, files and YouTube videos to the conversation.
Gemini Live with images, files and YouTube videos is rolling out on the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S25 series, and also on Pixel 9 devices, starting today. We’ll expand to more Android devices in the coming weeks. Plus, in the coming months, we’ll bring Project Astra capabilities like screen sharing and live video streaming first to the Gemini mobile app on Android and the Samsung Galaxy S25.
Connect to more extensions
With extensions2, Gemini can already help you complete tasks across apps on your phone like YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail and Spotify. Starting today, Gemini can also help you take actions across Samsung apps on your Galaxy S25 phone, including Samsung Calendar, Notes, Reminder and Clock.
And you can now ask Gemini to use multiple extensions in a single prompt. For example, if you’re looking for a list of high-protein lunch ideas, you can ask Gemini for some recipes and then easily save them to a note directly on Samsung Notes or Google Keep.
Multi-extension prompts are now available to all Gemini users on the web, Android and iOS.
Access Gemini in more ways
We’re making Gemini even more accessible on Galaxy S25 devices. Just long-press on your side button and Gemini will be right there to assist you or respond to what’s on your screen. Additionally, we’ll start rolling out access to Deep Research in the Gemini mobile app for Advanced users later this week, which can save you hours of research even while you’re on the go.
We’re constantly working to make Gemini a more helpful mobile assistant, and we can’t wait for you to put it to work on your Android devices.
